An immersive room for a performance lab

The speed of the treadmill controls the speed of the video in real time. When the runner accelerates, the world accelerates; when they stop, the world stops.

RUNNR is turning its performance lab into an immersive experience. We design and develop the system that links what happens on the treadmill with what the room shows: the video moves forward, holds or rewinds at the pace of the runner.

It has to feel immediate and dependable: no jumps, no perceptible delay, and running every day without anyone having to operate the computer.

What we are building

01Reading the treadmill's speed through standard protocols, with a fallback path if the machine does not expose it.
02A TouchDesigner playback engine that translates speed into video speed: forward, reverse and stops, smoothed so the motion never feels abrupt.
03A video pipeline tuned for fluid, continuous playback.
04Fail-safe states: if the signal drops, the system responds calmly instead of breaking.
05Autostart and crash recovery for daily operation without technical supervision.
06On-site installation, calibration on a curved wall with Full HD output, staff training and documentation.
